Correction to Public Safety Expenditure Figures in Mayor's Community Budget Presentation

(3/30/2010) At a recent community presentation at Nathan Hale School a resident pointed out a concern regarding a $4.9 million increase in the public safety budget. We reviewed this concern and found that a transposition error took place when developing the presentation and in fact the resident was correct-- this number was not accurate. The figures for public safety are less than what we reported in the presentation. The correct expenditure budget for public safety agencies combined is $72.3 million, an increase of 2.3% as opposed to the 4.9% increase incorrectly reported before. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback at community meetings and through this section of the City website.
